You should pick a program that you feel comfortably promoting and something that would not embarrass you at first, as there are many high paying commission products that are out there that could be a bit awkward to promote. If you are starting out as an affiliate marketer I would recommend that you choose a product that you are comfortable with, something that you already know about.

This will make things easier when writing articles or ads, as you get more understanding on how to promote stuff you can move on to other products. It would also be wise to only promote products and services for companies who have gone through the trouble to provide you with affiliate tools and sales aids such as banners and other marketing materials that you can use. For most digital products, and digital software you can expect commissions of about 50%, although every affiliate is different. Some of the places that you can start browsing for programs and products to promote are CJ and Clickbank, there are many more though so do not limit yourself to just those two.
